Is the TEAS® hard?
Much of the TEAS® content is high-school level, so it's rarely the material itself that makes it hard. What catches people is the time limit and wrong answers written to sound right, especially in Science, where anatomy and physiology goes deeper than many people expect.
What makes it feel hard
- Breadth: 170 questions across four subjects in one sitting.
- Science depth: anatomy and physiology questions go past basic biology, and many applicants haven't studied it before.
- Time: about a minute a question in English and Science.
- Tempting wrong answers: a lot of misses come from a choice that is almost right, such as reading the pH scale as linear or dividing by the wrong number in a percent problem.
What makes it easier
The format doesn't change, so practice transfers directly. Once you know the common traps, many questions get faster because you can spot the bait answer. People who study their own mistakes, not just more content, usually make the quickest progress.
Common questions
What is the hardest section of the TEAS®?
Many people find Science hardest, mostly because of anatomy and physiology. Your own hardest section depends on your background; a diagnostic shows it quickly.
Is the TEAS® harder than the HESI A2?
They cover similar subjects in different formats, and the TEAS® includes a scientific reasoning area. Most people take whichever test their program requires, so compare against that one.
